My name is Stone Peng, a fine art photographer. I was born on the beautiful island of Taiwan, and have been living in Michigan for over 20 years. About 8 years ago, I have moved from Holland, MI, to Grand Rapids, MI.
Stone Peng’s photos have been selected juried competitions at Three River, Kalamazoo art Museum, Lowell, Holland, Grand Rapids and Muskegon Art Museum. Stone Peng’s photos have been showed in Grand Rapids Newspaper four times and have been interviewed with Grand Rapids Express Art Entertainment section. Stone Peng’s photos also can be seen at Uptown Gallery Holland, MI since 1995.
I have been taking photos since the early 1980’s. I try to catch the moment of beauty, when dramatic displays of color and light shine in the landscape. Every landscape has its own life and different meaning, depending on the viewer’s mood. I try to catch the emotional feeling at specific moments in landscapes. Professor Biq told me “if you put your heart at peace and involve yourself in nature, you can feel that nature is your friend and realize nature’s life cycle and beauty.” I hope that you can see through my photos express the feelings I had when taking them. When photographing people, you need to show a person’s character and style. Try to capture them as they really are. Your subjects must feel comfortable in front of a camera in order for you to create an image that shows the person’s true personality.
A wedding is all about the emotions that are shared between the bride and groom, their families and their guests. Photographing a wedding is all about capturing special moments: the groom seeing the bride for the first time; the father giving the bride away; a special moment between the bride and the groom.
The wedding photographer has to turn non-professional models into stars, using whatever locations are presented to him in any weather conditions, and do all this in minimum time.
Photographing families provides unique opportunities to capture and share some very emotional and moving moments: the innocence of a newborn child; the love of siblings for one another; the love a couple shares for one another as they celebrate an upcoming birth, the joy of a family celebrating their first Christmas together; the love of a family for one another. These emotions cannot be simulated or feigned.
